Alan Richards presented sporting programme on AKTV-2 consisting of film clips, demos, and interviews with sporting personalities .
As described in The Listener of 7 October 1960:
Another Thursday session is Sportsroom. For this a special set has been built, and Alan Richards will be the first compare. Mr Richards is well known in Auckland for his cricket comentaries, and takes a keen interest in all sports. His programmes will consist of interviews, film clips and demonstrations. With the co-operation of Steve Fleming, NZBS District Sports Officer in Auckland, he will also select This Week's sportsman (Ouch) and bring that personality before the cameras. The demon strations may include the use of Starting blocks in athletics, and such hardy perennials as the correct grip of a golf club and playing the straight bat.
