Sidekicks

There have been four of these as far as I know:

Harland Williams and Humble Howard left for reasons unknown. If anyone has any half baked rumours about why they left please let me know, hey, make something up even. I'm told that Willams has been hosting the Just for Laughs tv show in the last few years, and appeared in Big Money Hustlas during 2000.

Here in New Zealand we got to see episodes from the first series with Humble Howard. The current partner in crime is Craig Campbell. He's described by Ed as young, hip, and very funny -- but don't get any ideas -- Ed don't swing that way! Here is Ed's very own rendering of Craig. Please don't ask how he drew this without any arms, you don't want to know.

Craig has visited New Zealand a couple of times. In early 98 he only did shows in the North Island, But he did make a few appearances on Ice TV, a youth orientated live show. He did a good job of introducing The Ed the Sock humour to viewers here. He had a role in their regular comedy serial spot as a very weird doctor. They also interviewed him which was quite funny as he showed that even without Ed's influence he can be a funny and sometimes rude boy.

Evan Davis, a fellow fan of Ed the Sock who lives in Australia paid good money on October 9th, 1998 to see Craig standing up in the Gold Coast Arts Centre. While I appreciate that it is rare to see a comedian near a bar who is coherant enough to support themselves, I'm not really sure it would be worth paying to see. Perhaps there is not much to do on the Gold Coast :-)

So impressed was Evan with Craig's skill at standing that he took some photographs of the event. Amongest these Evan captured a scene that demands further investergation, follow me!

The following year Craig visited my home town as part of the International Laugh Festival. Craig performed in Christchurch, 17 to 22 May 1999. I meant to catch his show but due to indecision on my part never got there. I'll try and find some reviews etc.

In early 2001 James Stamos a.k.a. Da Scientist joined the team as Ed's co-host on Wham Bam Mondays! for the Muchmusic channel - as well as being his musical director/D.J. for ED's Night Party. Check out a chat I had with him here.
