Zoe used to be a sheriff, now she is one of the few humans left alive after a zombie plague ravaged Texas. She rescues a lone boy from a desert church just before the zombies get their teeth into him, and takes him back to the shopping mall compound where the human survivors try to stay alive.

Those of you looking for pretty pictures will find much to appreciate in the 16 pages contained here. There are big rigs, zany zombies and nasty guns. I was a bit worried that the female central character was going to be an excuse for lots of bad girl art, but thankfully Steve lets her keep on a sensible amount of clothing during this issue.

Plot wise this is violence with staples. I'm sure I've seen the basic premise a few times before, so the creative talents behind Mad Max, Tombraider and Dawn of the Dead probably deserve a mention in the credits. The dialogue is direct and to the point, with nothing that really sticks in the brain.

A funky color cover will always attract the eye, but will the comic inside live up to the promise? In this case the artwork wins out hands down. If there was as much talent in the writing as there is on show in the drawing this could have been a great read, as it is this book is for your eyes only.

In a Word: Visual.
