Two issues of hard boiled storytelling which shows us a world of black ops agents, loan sharks, hit men and women, cold heart killers, crooked cops and comic creators.

For lovers of noir these are must have books. There's snappy dialogue and a host of good for ntohing characters living desperate lives. Debts are being called in and people are thinking up cons to solve their problems. It's all edge of the seat stuff with plot twists and imaginative story telling.

The trade mark self referential humour of Triple Noir is on display in several stories, with comic writers and artists making appearances. This injects just the right element of humor into the book because just when you think the story is going to be crime free, they manage to drop their characters right into the heart of the crime world.

Choat does most of the artwork with his distinctive style of heavy blacks and lots of straight lines. It's always a pleasure to look at, though there are a few faces that look a bit awkward with perhaps last minute alterations being done.

These books are sort of thing to read while on a stack out or for drivers while they keep the motor running; quick, thrilling and sure to keep you on your toes.

In a Word: Deadly.
