John Weeks: When did MKI begin?

MKI: 1997 March 15.

JW: How many creators are involved?

MKI: 20 to 30.

JW: Are the comics published themselves or does MKI publish them?

MKI: They publish themselves. Several have their own publisher.

JW: Does MKI do anthologies?

MKI: We are going to make a compilation of comics. We're gonna publish it, people have to know what's going on.

JW: What are the main goals of MKI?

MKI: Make them more creative, making comic, there is no publisher want to publish it, they can publish themselves.

JW: Do you have a newsletter or bulletin?

MKI: (Laughs). Three years ago. [MKI now has a mailing list]

JW: MKI helped with this convention, and others too?

MKI: Yes, in October there's another convention at the State University in Malang, and we create PKI #3.

JW: Do you have regular meetings in Jakarta?

MKI: Every Saturday we have a meeting. We are doing some clinics, 'How to Draw'. Mostly they are students.
