Not so much a comic as a taster, a preview, the entrée, a glimpse of more to follow. Captain Max and the Space Rangers is a seven paged, palm sized mini mini comic.

This short adventure tale introduces Captain Max [a tiger wearing a World War 2 airforce type of uniform who flies a futuristic type of plane] and his wingman Ace [similar to Max but a Lion]. These two intrepid, feline adventurers explore unknown worlds that in the case of this mini comic is inhabited by a large flying dragon/ lizard type of creature.

This intro is, in reality, a single action sequence. Not much in the way of exposition, character development or storyline. Not much in the way of dialogue either but plenty of aerial action as the two members of the Space Rangers are forced to employ all of their aeronautical skill to avoid becoming "newt food."

As a taster this works. We are left with more questions than answers, which is a good thing. True there is little to suggest that anything that follows [in the way of full blown comics] will offer anything "earth shatteringly" new but there is enough within these seven pages to pique the reader’s curiosity.

The art- work is promising and the characters show potential for development. So if you have been waiting for a comic that crosses Lion King with Dan Dare this could prove to be the answer to all of your comic prayers.

In a Word: Teasing.
