It is not very often that we get a colour small press comic so this got my attention straight away. Indira Neville's playful artwork is a favourite of mine, and is used to great effect in this collection of song lyrics brought to life as comics. Indira has picked some of her favourite songs from 60's girl groups such as The Pixies 3, The Nu-Luvs, Whyte Boots and others. Some of the strips are humorous while others, such as Nightmare, have a nasty side. Another song, You Can Beat Her tells the story of a woman in prison because she killed the girl who stole her boyfriend. "You can beat her, you can win," her friends yelled, so she fought - with tragic results. This song makes most gangster rap seem mild.

Indira depicts some songs as literal translations, others as dance routines. She undercuts some lyrics with images that allow for additional interpretations.

Twelve pages and not a dud amongst them.

In a Word: Pop.
