From the very first shot of the show ambulances have been a regular feature with lots going on, in, and around them as they rescue injured plot points and get them back to the Shortland Street emergency rooms.
Makes and models of ambulances used on the show have included:

- 2005 and 2009 Mercedes-Benz Sprinters
