One of CHTV- 3's early announcers. Although only 31 in 1971, had had 13 years with the N.Z.B.C. by then. He was a pupil of Wairarapa College and won an elocution prize at the Wanganui Competitions Society’s festival. He had a year’s training with the New Zealand Players drama school but chose broadcasting instead of the stage, in the belief it would be more secure. He had vast experience in television and radio and compered Have a Shot in 1964 and worked on The South Tonight
