Hare Hohepa is an easy going guy with a passion for horse racing. His good mate Martha is hardworking and has a personal bent for examining the contents of rubbish tins. Both distrust the wiles of Lady Luck, a distrust that becomes more pronounced when Hare mysteriously acquires the results of the following day's race card at Avondale.
