For series two "The new episodes take a different approach," says producer Michael Higgins. "We've looked at areas of New Zealand music that the first series didn't examine in a lot of detail and made stand alone documentaries about them."

The series covers song writing, a history of local music videos, the pop explosion of the 1980s, the increasing influence of electronic instruments and music, the changing roles of women musicians, and the evolution Maori music.

A compilation of music featured on the show was released.
