Told without the aid of words, this comic follows the day in the life of a Slab: Strange rock like creature who ride on buses, arrive late for work and spend lunch at the pub. The hero of this book decides to ask one of the ladies at his work out on a date. He has high expectations. Will they be meet or is his drink buddy right to laugh?

John created this comic on his computer using Microsoft Word and Paint. The images are kept simple with basic shapes and a good deal of clip art representing everyday objects. The have a simple clean look but close consideration reveals a nice level of detailing.

When characters "speak", John uses punctuation marks and pictures to get the message across. As such, the "dialogue" isn't that subtle but it does let us know what is going on and provide a few laughs along the way. We soon learn that the hero is a gross office worker who has sex and warm beer on his mind 24 hours a day.

As humorous stories of male slobs go this is an amusing read told in a straightforward manner. The book looks crisp and tidy with a bold design.

In a Word: Laddish..
