Here's your invite to see Harvey Pekar's American Splendor in London, the next in an ongoing series of COMICA events. This one's not at the ICA, but among upcoming COMICA events later this year, Art Spiegelman will be in conversation there with Philip Pullman. Hope you can make Pekar next Tuesday, August 26th, in a great 400-seater cinema with Q&A afterwards with the man himself - and please spread the word, we need bums on seats, the more, the merrier.

Best wishes,

Paul Gravett
COMICA : A Festival of International Comic Art and Literature

Optimum Releasing and COMICA Comics Festival invite you to a very special screening of US hit AMERICAN SPLENDOR with Harvey Pekar and Paul Giamatti in attendance

"Exhilirating and Big Hearted"
Lisa Scwarzbaum

"Vibrates with creativity and hums with brilliant performances"
Richard Roeper

Wildly unique and dryly comic, American Splendor is a true American original based on Pekar's autobiographical comics. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, as well as the Fipresci Award at this year' s Cannes Film Festival, American Splendor will close this year's Edinburgh International Film Festival.

And now you have the chance to see the film and hear from its stars months ahead of its UK release.

American Splendor tells the unforgettable story of Harvey Pekar, a working-class Everyman who pursues self-expression without self-censorship and finds a grateful audience, critical admiration and that most remarkable of happy endings - a loving family.

Screening Details

Tuesday August 26th at the UGC Haymarket cinema W1
