Comics without Commitment is the slogan, and while plot and characterization seem to have lost out on the deal the artwork in this 20 page, B/W mini comic holds much to recommend it.

Simon uses a nice range of styles, with his preferred one a simple one of spare line work that shows a strong Manga influence. Taking its lead from video games and super hero comics and mixing in a strong dose of allegory, characters such as Strength get into fights with Star, then go off in serach of the hermit Wise.

Matt Kelly provides a muck monster/misguided scientist story for Simon, who puts a lot of effort into his drawing but the characters are symbols for ideas, not people in their own right. A nice surprise is the one page offering from the rarely seen Saret Em, which keeps with the tone of the other stories.

It's all very nice to look at but only a couple of the pages try to grab your attention. Plot junkies should look for their fix elsewhere.

In a Word: Imagery.
