Ray Columbus got his own show starting Wednesday, November 11 1970 at 7.30 p.m. on all channels. A variety programme with the accent on comedy, it also had pop guests.

It was produced by John Barningham, the resident group was The Population — five girls and five guys “who sing very well. dance very well, and look very well.” Guests included Craig’ Scott, Suzanne, Judie Beaumont, Peter Sinclair, Merv Smith, Max Cryer, and an all-girl pop group, the Fair Sect. Interspersed with established artists were newcomers to national television.
