Lesley Martin was charged with two counts of attempted murder after she published her book To Die Like a Dog. In it, she described giving her terminally ill mother a morphine overdose and later smothering her with a pillow after promising not to let her linger, suffering the end stages of bowel [rectal] cancer.

Award-winning film-maker Leanne Pooley's cameras followed Martin, her family and supporters in the weeks leading up to, and during, the trial.
