At the age of 13 Kapa first appeared in public as New Zealand's best accordion player.
4 years later, the Auckland born New Zealander was hired for the TV series The Flying Kiwi where he played with Siegfried Rauch.
Following that he played Albert, a boy in a wheelchair, in an episode of Skycrane.
Afterwards he joined a theatre company. 1982 Kapa Kitchen first took part in a musical production: Jesus Christ Superstar. In addition he completed his training as a banker.
Several parts in musical productions followed:, i.e. Evita, The Rink, A man for all seasons, Bernado in West Side Story.
In 1988 Kapa was already a member of the Starlight Express original Bochum cast , playing the parts of Rusty and Caboose. He was looking for an engagement in London when friends told him about the imminent castings in Bochum.
After a year with the Andrew Lloyd Webber Gala Tour and at the Berlin production of Shakespeare and Rock'n'Roll he rejoined the Bochum production as first cast Caboose, cover Rusty and Electra in June 1996 where he stayed until May 1999.
