In 1980 regional TV news shows were brought back - they'd been on screens before but had been lost in changes to broadcasting.
So, at the start of the decade, Top Half began to air in the top half of the North Island, Today Tonight in Wellington, and The Mainland Touch in Christchurch.
Jesse Mulligan spoke to David Baldock who helped set up Today Tonight in Wellington, and John Harris who got Judy Bailey and John Hawkesby together presenting Top Half.
