The Rev. R. A.-Bob-Lowe was Vicar of Fendalton in the Diocese of Christchurch, the heart of Anglicanism in New Zealand. But he’s was no ordinary parish parson-he bobed up in all kinds of public activities: speaker at conferences and sports gatherings, columnist for a national women’s magazine, cricket commentator, radio and television personality … In the last medium he became better known in Australia and Britain than in New Zealand, for the NZBC didn’t like the satirical style of his scripts. Bob Lowe practiced his own brand of Christianity, and his book Prayers for New Zealanders was said to be proof of its power. His friend Barry Crump, who wrote the Foreword, was impressed too.
