Hosted by Marton Csokas and Philippa Mayne, Coca-Cola TVFM (and, later, Coca-Cola TVFM: Rocks) was a live-to-air, late night music show featuring adult rock, phone-in requests, competitions and outside studio links. It went to air live on TV3 (now Three) at around 10.30pm on Saturday nights (or around 11.30pm due to exclusive free-to-air coverage of the New Zealand National Basketball League, or the Rheineck Basketball League for sponsorship reasons).
On Sundays at 9am, Coca-Cola TVFM Talk-Free Zone (and, later, Coca-Cola TVFM: Hits) was a 'talk-free chart countdown of the week's top 20, plus dance, new artists and hot pop hits' in a two-hour format.
By early 1992, Coca-Cola TVFM: Hits moved to Saturdays at 10am with a repeat screening the next day (Sundays at 9am), and by mid-year co-hosts Marton Csokas and Philippa Mayne were replaced by Karyn Hay (formerly of Radio with Pictures fame), who took over as sole host of the late night Coca-Cola TVFM. At the same time, it moved to Sunday nights in the same timeslot (around 10.30pm), running through to closedown at midnight. Coca-Cola TVFM: Hits was replaced by Coca-Cola TVFM: Megamix and ran for an hour - Saturdays at 10am and repeated on Sundays in the same timeslot.
