The Brokenwood Mysteries is a series of murder mystery telefeatures set in a seemingly quiet country town where the town’s newest resident, Mike Shepherd, finds that murder lurks in even the most homely location.
Neill Rea (Scarfies, Legend of the Seeker, Go Girls) stars in the lead role of Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Shepherd while Fern Sutherland (The Almighty Johnsons) plays Detective Constable Kristin Sims. Recurring cast include: Nic Sampson (Step Dave, Go Girls) as DC Sam Breen and Cristina Ionda (Cold Mountain, Filthy Rich) as Dr Gina Kadinsky.
Filming on a new series was under way in west Auckland during September 2022
The series used to air on Prime TV in New Zealand but has moved to TVNZ+ as well as Acorn TV (USA), France 3 (France), DR (Denmark), Italy (Giallo), Drama (UK), Nine Network (Australia), and streams on a few services including Acorn
