A 6-part documentary series made to mark the 50th anniversary of D-Day of World War II. It gives a detailed account of New Zealand's role in this war. It consists of old footage, including New Zealander soldiers as Prisoners of War in Japanese camps and the return of the Maori Battalion, along with interviews of people involved in the war who have survived to tell its tales. The director Laurence Rees brings his past experience of war-oriented TV shows. Neil Roberts, who has produced the show, is also the main narrator, while Temuera Morrison gives technical details to back up Roberts.
